Lucia isn't the reckless one
Since Trailer 1, the internet has cast Lucia as the wild half of a modern Bonnie and Clyde, the one pulling Jason in deeper. Read what Rockstar has actually written about her and the picture flips.
Where the reckless read came from
Trailer 1 opens on Lucia in a prison interview and closes on the two of them robbing a store together. Put those side by side and "reckless" is the easy conclusion. It is also the only part of her most people have seen.
What her own page says
Rockstar's bio describes someone who learned to fight from her father almost as soon as she could walk, and who is chasing the life her mother has dreamed of since their Liberty City days. The key line is that she is committed to her plan. That is not how you describe someone acting on impulse.
The prison sentence is the detail people skip. She ended up in the Leonida Penitentiary for standing up for her family, and only luck got her out. Her record comes from loyalty, not from chasing a thrill.
Jason is the risk
Read Jason's bio in the same light and he is the one drifting. He lives rent-free under Brian Heder in exchange for the odd shakedown and wants an easier version of life. Rockstar gave him most of the screen time in An Extended Look, which keeps Lucia's side of the plan off camera for now.
What the gameplay admits
Switching between the two of them mid-mission means neither is a sidekick. Unlike GTA V's three separate lives, this story only works as a partnership, and the evidence so far suggests Lucia is the one who wrote the plan.
